Category: Breast Augmentation
At some point in your life, you’ll begin to see changes in your breasts. This could be due to gravity, weight loss, weight gain, pregnancy, or nursing. All these can take a toll on your breasts’ natural shape and fullness. Overtime, these can lead to breast asymmetry, sagginess, drooping nipples, loss of volume, oversized breasts, and many others. While these changes are normal as you age, these can affect your confidence and appearance.
The good news is these changes are easily addressed through a breast enhancement surgery. Depending on your case, you can request for a breast augmentation, a breast reduction or a breast lift
If you’re considering a breast reduction or breast lift procedure, here are some facts you need to know.
Breast Reduction
This is a surgical procedure that removes excess breast tissue to reduce breast size. This can correct poor posture, back pain or chest pain due to oversized breasts. You can also request this if you want to have smaller breasts, regardless of whether or not you’re suffering from a breast-size-related issue.
Here are some facts you need to know about breast reduction:
- The recovery period isn’t too rough. Unlike other breast surgeries, recovery from breast reduction is less harsh. You may experience pain post-operatively, but the pain level is lower.
- Results will not be in cup size. Cup sizes are different from one bra manufacturer to another. Dr. Mussat will use grams instead of cups size when talking about how much breast tissue will be removed.
- It’s not just for women. Gynecomastia is a condition that causes breasts in men to grow large, and breast reduction can address that.
- It is covered by most health insurance companies. Many breast reduction surgeries are covered by health insurance. Currently, we are in network with Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO.
Breast Lift
Although it’s often confused with breast reduction, breast lift is actually a surgical procedure that will lift sagging breasts, correct drooping nipples, and resize enlarged nipples and areolas.
Here are some things you need to know about a breast lift:
- It doesn’t increase breast size. This procedure isn’t designed to resize breasts, but it can result in a fuller and rounder breast shape with a better contour.
- It works well with other breast surgeries. Breast lift can be performed concurrently with either breast augmentation or breast reduction to produce better aesthetic results. Due to its flexibility, this is commonly a part of a “mommy makeover”.
- It corrects breast asymmetry. Breastfeeding can alter the breast shape, which leads to breast asymmetry and imbalance of firmness.
These two procedures differ in so many aspects, but they can achieve one goal: improved breast appearance. If you’d like to know more about breast reduction and breast lift, and if you’re a good candidate for either of the two, consult with Dr. Mussat. Mommies deserve more than just a salute. What you do is incredibly amazing. It’s hard to imagine a world without doting, caring, unconditionally loving moms. So, if you want to get a makeover to get your pre-baby back again, you don’t need to explain. Just go for it.
Getting pregnant, giving birth and breastfeeding changes your body in a way that make mothers feel less thrilled when they look at themselves in the mirror. If you want to look and feel young, vibrant and beautiful again, a mommy makeover can make a big difference.
A Mommy Makeover at a Glance
A mommy makeover is a combination of different cosmetic procedures, be it surgical or non-surgical, which can restore your body back to its pre-pregnancy state. More than that, it can enhance your appearance further.
The Benefits of a Mommy Makeover
Getting a mommy makeover is a choice moms can make freely. However, some wonder if it’s worth their time and effort. If you share the same sentiment, here are five good things that can happen if you decide to get a mommy makeover.
- Increased Self-Confidence
Bodily changes, like stretch marks, flabby skin, sagging breasts and bulging abdomen, can decrease a woman’s self-esteem. The same is true for moms. Through a tummy tuck or a breast lift, physical imperfections are corrected to make you look and feel amazing again.
You can use a mommy makeover to your benefit. For instance, if you’ve always wanted to have well-toned thighs, you can include a thigh lift to your surgery package. This way, you can wake up following your surgery to a completely whole new you.
If the stretch marks in your belly or thighs are keeping you from wearing a bikini every summer, then getting a tummy tuck can make the next summer something to look forward to.
You definitely can personalize your mommy makeover. This way, you can achieve the results you desire and deserve. Just keep an open line of communication with Dr. Mussat so she can tailor your treatment according to your needs.
Although this should not be a motivation to have the procedure, a mommy makeover can correct flaws that affect your confidence with regards to intimacy with your partner. As you gain more confidence about your body, getting intimate will no longer be an issue.
As you can see, getting a mommy makeover is beneficial to moms who want to change their appearance for the better. If you want to know if this is right for you, and if you’re a good candidate, consult with Dr. Mussat today.
There are two main things that will decide how well your breast augmentation will turn out: your surgeon, and your recovery—and for you to have a safe and healthy recovery, you need to do quite a bit of planning. So before your breast augmentation procedure, learn exactly what you need to do to make sure your home recovery goes swimmingly.
The Day of the Surgery
For the first 24 hours of your recovery, it’s really important that you have a responsible adult help take care of you. You just had an invasive surgery, and there’s going to be a lot things that you can’t do by yourself. So just for your peace of mind, try to have a buddy with you that can help you with lifting things, going to the bathroom, and getting food.
Your Recovery Space
Make sure that your recovery space is as serene and stress-free as possible. Nothing helps the healing process more than being calm. Make sure all your chores are done and all your things are organized and tidy. Also, move food and other necessities to shelves that are within reach—it’s hard to reach above your head after a breast augmentation surgery.
Get Cocoa Butter
You’ll be able to shower, at the soonest, the day after surgery. You want to make sure that the shower doesn’t dry out your skin (which will be tight at this point), so get some cocoa butter that you can gently rub on your skin to moisturize it.
Make a Recovery Station
You should set up an unbelievably comfy spot where you can spend most of your recovery time. Make sure it has lots of pillows, blankets and cushioning, and try to put supplies and recovery items nearby so you don’t have to move much.
Make Ready-to-Eat Meals
You should pre-prepare some meals before your surgery so that you won’t have to do much cooking during your recovery. Make some dishes that you can freeze or microwave really easily, or maybe stock up on some pre-packed snacks like oatmeal or Jello. A light diet that won’t upset your stomach, like toast, soup, and crackers is the best option.
Ice Packs
Stock up on lots of ice packs! Ice packs are soothing, easy to make, and can help get swelling down. Make sure to make them the night before your surgery, so that they’ll be ready when you need them.

Breast augmentation is a serious surgery, and just like your surgeon, you need to be prepared. If you’re considering a breast augmentation, make sure to look over this list of things to bring for your procedure:
Bring a Buddy
One of the most important things to bring to your procedure? A responsible friend. Because of the nature of the surgery and anesthesia, you’re not allowed to go home alone. So make sure you have someone that can drive you to the procedure and take you home. It’s also highly recommended that you have someone with you throughout the day after the surgery; it pays to have someone there that can help you around the house and make sure you’re okay.
ID
Don’t forget to bring your ID!
Clothes
The good news: you don’t have to look amazing for your procedure, just be comfortable. You should bring loose-fitting clothing that opens from the front; trust us, you don’t want to have to put a shirt on over your head after your surgery.
Snacks
It’s recommended that you don’t eat or drink before your surgery, so you might be unbelievably hungry when you wake up from the surgery. It’s a good idea to bring snacks to the procedure to eat afterwards, but make sure they’re light and won’t upset your stomach. Find something that’s easy to eat and will settle your stomach; ginger ale with a bendy straw and crackers are a good bet.
Prepare your Prescriptions
Some doctors ask that you bring a list of prescriptions that you take; some even ask that you bring the medication itself.
Pads
If you think you’re going to have your period during the surgery, make sure to wear and bring pads only. It’s not recommended that you use a tampon during breast augmentation.
Pillows
If you want to maximize your comfort level right after the surgery, bring pillows for the car ride home. Doctors advise that you keep your chest elevated at all times to reduce swelling, so it might be a good time to invest in an incline pillow that will let you sleep without having to prop yourself up all the time.
Don’t Bring
It’s not necessary to bring a car full of supplies to your breast augmentation, but there are actually few things you really shouldn’t bring to the procedure: leave your earrings and any body piercings at home before your surgery. Your plastic surgeon will provide a special bra for you to wear post-surgery, so leave your Victoria’s Secret Push-Up at home.
