What Labiaplasty Can Do

The trim method removes excess labial skin from the outer edge of the labia, while the wedge method removes a v-shaped wedge from the labia, but leaves the outer edge intact. The Labiaplasty Procedure

Labiaplasty is an outpatient procedure that usually takes about an hour to perform. General anesthesia is used, so the patient will not experience any pain during the procedure, and should only experience minor discomfort during the recovery period. Some results will be visible in as little as a week, but full results won’t be seen until about six weeks after the procedure when the tissues are fully healed and all swelling has subsided.

How to Recover from Labiaplasty

The patient will need to use a feminine pad for the first four or five days after the procedure, and should wear loose-fitting clothing to protect the treatment area. There may be some minor discomfort, which can usually be alleviated with over-the-counter pain medications. Exercise and vigorous activity should be avoided for about four weeks, and patients should wait four to six weeks before engaging in sexual activity or using tampons.
