Liposuction
Liposuction is a procedure that removes localized areas of excess fatty tissue.
Liposuction can be performed on many area of the body to include: face, neck, chest,
abdomen, back, arms, hips, and legs. Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure
but rather a body contouring procedure. It is designed to address those areas of
fatty tissue that are resistant to diet and exercise. The ideal candidate is at
or near their ideal body weight and in good physical condition. Dr. Mussat uses
the tumescent technique when performing liposuction. Dr. Mussat will help you determine
if you are a good candidate for liposuction during your consultation.
Abdominoplasty
Abdominoplasty is a procedure designed to contour the abdomen. This is accomplished
by removing excess skin and fat as well as tightening the abdominal muscles. A tummy
tuck is not a weight loss procedure, and the best results are achieved in those
patients who are at or near their ideal body weight. Ideal candidates are those
who have had children or lost a significant amount of weight and are in good physical
condition. The technique used depends on several variables that will be discussed
with Dr. Mussat during your consultation.
Body Contouring After Weight Loss
Body contouring after weight loss is designed to address the excess skin that develops
after a patient loses a significant amount of weight. Despite the weight loss and
exercise, the stretched out skin often will not shrink back adequately. This can
lead to difficulties with exercising, finding clothes that fit properly, hygiene
and discouragement that the transformation is not complete. Areas of the body that
are often addressed during body contouring after weight loss include: abdomen, arms,
buttock, and thighs. Dr. Mussat will discuss the different options that are available
during your consultation.
